CO2tv FEATURED WORKS

OUTER CIRCLE

Outer Circle was an art-forward post-punk band out of Long Beach, California circa 1980-1984. Featuring the theatrical baritone of vocalist Steve “Spit’ Spingola, the combo was augmented by evocative and discordant synthesizers, analog rhythm boxes and distorted Hawaiian lap steel guitar. Following local chart success, the band imploded because some members had no desire for actual fame. You, however, may find out more about them here.

Performance footage via Dimensions Cable, Long Beach CA circa 1983. With apologies to Abel Ferrara and Nicholas Ray.

BRAINDEAD SOUND MACHINE

Braindead Sound Machine was an industrial-edged metal-disco collective out of Los Angeles circa 1990-1993. Throbbing bass, atonal analog synthesizers, syncopated funk guitar and dreamy pop vocals chronicled end times and a new beginning. Find out more about BSM here.

Braindead Sound MachineĀ find their groove in their rave-up pop ditty about 200-mph winds wiping out Los Angeles. Performance footage from Club Lingerie in Hollywood circa 1992. With apologies to Sterling Hayden, L. Ron Hubbard, and Annette Funicello.

THE FONTANELLES

The Fontanelles were an aggressive post-punk band from Hollywood (1984-1989) who rose out of the remnants of Outer Circle and was infused with fresh blood from ex-Saccharine Trust and Social Distortion members. Find out more about them here.

Post-punk provocateurs The Fontanelles bang out this pumpin’ pop gem on the set of the Rick Sloane cult classic “Hobgoblins.” With apologies to Sam Peckinpah and Nagisa Oshima.
